Going to the heart of what a wedding really is, a festival wedding is a celebration that brings together friends and family. Smiles, laughter, love, music and food. Just like pizza.

What is a festival wedding?

Picture the scene: out in the countryside, haybales, the fun of summer with flags, fireworks and headline bands – but the bride and groom get to choose the lineup, pick the food (a mobile pizza van included, obviously!) and invite the guests. It’s the hedonism of a summer music festival, perfected.

How does catering work at a festival wedding?

Literally however you want it to. You could go down the formal sit-down path and have one cater serve the meals, waiters and all. Or you could really channel the festival feel with tables in bell tents and your favourite street food vans serving throughout the day or weekend. Imagine bands playing, free bar flowing, and speeches scheduled during the day – just to remind everyone they’re at a wedding, not a full-blown festival.

Does a festival wedding have to be in summer?

A summer festival wedding is an obvious choice because of the longer evenings and the chance of better weather.

But if you’re happy to bring brollies, wellie boots and plenty of blankets, there’s no reason a festival wedding can’t be in autumn or winter. The cosiness of a winter woodland wedding with acoustic guitars and campfires surrounded by friends and family sharing slices from a mobile pizza oven and roasting marshmallows? Hello.

How long does a festival wedding last?

Typically, a festival wedding is a weekend-long affair. You might have everyone camping in tents, with scrummy catering vans wafting deliciousness across the roofs. You might have accommodation offsite and bring everyone in each day. Think red double decker, horse-drawn carriages or hay wagons, split-screen VWs, Army troop carriers. It’s all part of the fun.

How do I cater for a festival wedding?

As you’ll be in a field for your festival wedding, you’ll need to cater for your guests for the whole time they’re there. You might still want a sit-down wedding breakfast in a marquee, but as you have people onsite for a couple of days, it’s important no one goes hungry – particularly if the alcohol is flowing freely.

Mobile catering trucks – a mobile pizza oven especially – are ideal for this. Having a choice makes it easier to cater for dietary requirements. Pizza, for example, can be vegan, vegetarian and gluten free if you need them to be.

Not only do catering vans really buy into the festival feel but they also keep everyone fed and watered. Our racing green Land Rover pizza van looks amazing at a festival wedding in a field, in its natural habitat.

On green gingham tablecloths, we lay out piping-hot wood-fired pizza on wooden peels. You can choose to have your favourite pizzas and we’re absolutely happy to rename a classic to celebrate a moment in your journey. It all adds to your authentic celebration.
